Hornby Zero 1 - DCC Conversion

Ever since they came out in the late 1970s, I've lusted after a Hornby Zero 1 system. By the time I could actually afford one, though, I no longer had a model railway (or anywhere to put one), and it languished in the back of my head, forgotten amongst the cobwebs.

Fast forward to the 2020s, and obviously DCC has long replaced Zero 1 as the de-facto digital standard. And Zero 1 kit is widely available on a well-known auction site for near-giveaway prices.

This project concerns taking old Hornby Zero 1 control units, and updating them to be full featured DCC controllers ("throttles") using modern Arduino-compatible hardware,
